Sports
The goal of the after-school sports program is to provide students with the opportunity to be physically active, as well as to build character through the development of respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. General motor skills and kinesthetic awareness can be improved through active participation in this program. Following instructions and processing directions are an important part of each after-school sport that is offered. Opportunities for social interaction with peers through cooperative group activities, as well as practicing good sportsmanship, are provided during each practice. Enhancing self-esteem and goal-setting abilities in children are essential components of each program. However, the most important goal of all is to HAVE FUN! Instructors who are also trained language specialists, supervise the program, including warm-up activities, skill building, sport-specific drills, and games. A variety of sports are offered throughout the school year, including track, gymnastics, basketball, and soccer.
